DAY 14 (nouns)

Before we can start describing things and putting together sentences, we should learn basics about “nouns” in Latvian.

Latvian language has two noun genders, masculine and feminine.

  1. You can look up the gender in any dictionary (marked m or f)
  2. You can learn these six declension classes – 3 for masculine and 3 for feminine nouns

NOTE: there are very very very few feminine nouns in Latvian that has an ending -s, they are pretty much considered exceptions.

If you are ever unsure, check the dictionary for gender of the word.

The endings will change between singular and plural forms as well as different cases (nominative, locative, accusative, dative, genitive, vocative and instrumental).
